What is eczema ?
Eczema is the name for a group of skin conditions that cause dry, irritated skin.
Discoid Eczema
Discoid eczema, also known as nummular or discoid dermatitis, is a long-term (chronic) skin condition that causes skin to become itchy, swollen and cracked in circular or oval patches.
Without treatment, discoid eczema can last for weeks, months or even years. It may also keep coming back – often in the same area that was affected previously.
Contact Dermatitis
Contact dermatitis is a type of eczema triggered by contact with a particular substance.
Contact dermatitis usually improves or clears up completely if the substance causing the problem is identified and avoided. Treatments are also available to help ease the symptoms.
Varicose Eczema
Varicose eczema, also known as venous, gravitational or stasis eczema, is a long-term skin condition that affects the lower legs. It's common in people with varicose veins.
Varicose eczema tends to be a long-term problem. However, treatments are available to help keep it under control.
Seborrhoeic Eczema
A type of eczema where red, scaly patches develop on the sides of the nose, eyebrows, ears and scalp
It can present with dandruff or dry flakey skin and there are a variety of treatments to control the symptoms.
Pompholyx (dyshidrotic eczema)
Pompholyx (dyshidrotic eczema) is a type of eczema that causes tiny blisters to develop across the fingers, palms of the hands and sometimes the soles of the feet.
It can affect people of any age, but it's most often seen in adults under 40.
